North Tyneside Together returns to North Shields next week
The North Tyneside Together festival is back this June, bringing communities together for a family fun day in the heart of North Shields.

Taking place on Saturday 27 June in Northumberland Square, visitors can enjoy a vibrant programme of live music, performances, arts and crafts, children’s outdoor games and a variety of food vans.
From 11am to 4pm, the event will feature a wide range of community and voluntary organisations offering information, advice and support for people of all backgrounds. Visitors can also learn more about different cultures, meet local emergency services – including police, ambulance and fire crews – and take part in activities for all ages.
The day will also include creative workshops and activities in and around the square, providing plenty of opportunities for families to get involved and try something new.
People are encouraged to bring along a picnic and make the most of the summer atmosphere.
Organised by North Tyneside Council and the North Tyneside Ethnic Diversity Community Taskforce, the event will showcase a diverse entertainment lineup, with the majority of performers from the local area, including talented young musicians from North Tyneside Music Hub.
The programme includes Steelband and African drumming and dance, brass groups and performances by local choirs and musicians, as well as a welcome from Elected Mayor, Karen Clark.
This event coincides with the councils bid for North Shields Town of Culture, a national competition which will see the winner awarded £3m to deliver a programme of year-long events celebrating its heritage and identity. North Tyneside Together plays an important role in highlighting the town’s growing reputation for arts, music and culture.
North Tyneside’s Elected Mayor, Karen Clark, said: “North Tyneside Together is a special celebration of our community, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent and spirit that makes North Tyneside such a unique and welcoming place to live and visit.”
